The Secure Print Failover feature allows Print Scouts (in Secure Release mode) to release jobs when they lose contact with their parent Collector. It ensures that users can continue to submit and release print jobs even if a Blueprint server is unavailable.
When the Secure Print Failover setting (in the Secure > Print Scout screen) is enabled, it allows employees to continue printing when a Blueprint server is offline.
Secure Print Failover User Experience
The Print Scout in Secure Release Mode (also referred to as Serverless mode) is installed on an employee's workstation.
The employee prints to the Pharos Secure Printer queue. The Print Scout can’t contact the Collector.
The employee sees a message that Secure Print is temporarily unavailable. This message is displayed using the Print Scout installed on the employee’s workstation.
The employee clicks OK and is offered the option to release directly to a printer they have used before. The employee’s most frequently used printer is selected by default.
The employee walks to the printer and collects the printed documents without having to authenticate.
This occurs for every print job until the Print Scout can re-establish connectivity with the server.
