# How does the print function of the Pharos Canon Integration work?

How does the print function of the Pharos Canon Integration work?

## Overview

The Pharos iMFP for Canon Print feature allows a user to select which job will be printed from the MFP. Print jobs are not automatically printed but are instead stored in a print queue until the user authenticates and selects the job. Because the print job is not directed to a specific printer the user may walk to any Pharos enabled iMFP and release their jobs.

The following features are supported:

Authentication

- Show all jobs for all users
- Show only current user's jobs
- Prompt for password on locked jobs

Job functions

- Print selected jobs (multi-select)
- Print all jobs
- Delete selected jobs (multi-select)

## **Workflow**

**Use Case 1: Unauthenticated environments**

- User accesses an anonymous computer (no login required) and prints a document
- The Pharos Popup client appears and the user types in their name and optional password
- User goes to any iMFP enabled Canon device and logs on
- The print release screen shows all print jobs for all users
- User pages through all jobs looking for their jobs
- The user selects one or more job and the cost to print them is shown
- Pressing *Print* will submit all jobs to the printer, debit the account balance and remove the jobs from the list
- User is not permitted to release jobs if they have insufficient funds
- Pressing *Delete* will delete all of the selected jobs and remove the jobs from the list
- Print queue auto clear is managed by Uniprint

**Use Case 2: Authenticated environments**

- User accesses a computer using their network login and prints a document
- User goes to any iMFP enabled Canon device and logs on
- The print release screen shows only that user's print jobs
- The user selects one or more job and the cost to print them is shown
- Pressing *Print* will submit all jobs to the printer, debit the account balance and remove the jobs from the list
- User is not permitted to release jobs if they have insufficient funds
- Pressing *Delete* will delete all of the selected jobs and remove the jobs from the list
- Pressing *Print All* will have the effect of pressing *Print* with all jobs selected
- Print queue auto clear is managed by Uniprint
