# Passcode Security Just Got an Upgrade

**Did You Know?** Passcodes used to remain valid forever once created — meaning a passcode set months (or years) ago could still be used today. Now, admins can set passcodes to automatically expire, giving your organization tighter control over authentication security without adding extra hassle for end-users, who get timely reminders before their access lapses.

**What's New**

Admins can now configure **Passcode Expiry** under **Secure > Settings > Passcode Settings**, choosing from three options:

- **Never Expires:** which preserves the original default behavior
- **Expires in 15 Minutes:** ideal for one-time, short-term access
- **Expires in X Days:** allowing a custom expiry window anywhere from 1 to 365 days

Once configured, users receive automatic notifications through the User Portal, Print Scout, or the Secure Release mobile app as their passcode approaches expiry, keeping them informed without any added friction.

**How it Works**

Admins choose an expiry option that fits their security needs. Once a passcode hits its expiry time, the user can no longer use it and is prompted to reset it. Starting 7 days out, users get a daily heads-up notification counting down to expiry; once expired, they're notified daily until they reset it.
