PayPal Standard Checkout Deprecation Impact on Pharos Wallet Integration

Prev Next

Problem

PayPal has announced that PayPal Standard Checkout will be deprecated by the end of year 2025. Customers are concerned whether this change will affect patrons’ ability to add funds to their Pharos wallet using PayPal.

Cause

Pharos integration currently relies on the Web Accept method. PayPal’s new Checkout experience may change or remove this method as part of the upgrade.

Resolution / Workaround

  • Wallet transactions should continue to function if “Web Accept” remains enabled in the new PayPal Checkout.
  • If PayPal fully replaces “Web Accept”, the integration may stop working and patrons could experience transaction failures.
  • Customers should confirm with PayPal whether “Web Accept” will remain supported under the upgraded Checkout experience.

Status

This is a Known limitation and is dependent on PayPal’s roadmap and continued support of the Web Accept method.
