You define Device Groups using printer attributes such as location, manufacturer, department, IPv4 address or custom fields. Device Groups work alongside administrator roles. Roles determine what administrators can do, and Device Groups determine which printers they can view and manage. The following updates support Device Group configuration and administration: - **Account Settings > Device Groups:** A new page for creating and managing Device Groups. - **Users > System Users:** A new **Device Access Group** field allows administrators using local system user accounts to be assigned to a Device Group directly. The assigned Device Group is also displayed for each administrator. - **Users > Group Mapping:** A new **Device Group** field allows Device Groups to be assigned automatically through SSO group mapping. - Printer management options outside an administrator's Device Group are now hidden. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/f4fb58ca-1114-4e59-ba1a-d8f647bd6dcf/Images/Documentation/image(222).png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-08T16%3A49%3A03Z&se=2026-11-08T17%3A49%3A03Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=LSmqywduMPKpdEkC4vCLgSJqWE9bikhJe6rKrmAIWhQ%3D) For more details, see [How Device Groups work](https://doc.pharos.com/cloud/C_Topics/Administrators/DeviceGroups/How-Device-Groups-Work.htm) ### Delegate Printing in the User Portal Users can now manage **Delegate Printing** in the User Portal, including assigning delegates to individual jobs and setting up **Auto Delegate**. Delegate settings stay in sync between the User Portal and Print Scout. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/f4fb58ca-1114-4e59-ba1a-d8f647bd6dcf/Images/Documentation/image(221).png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-08T16%3A49%3A03Z&se=2026-11-08T17%3A49%3A03Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=LSmqywduMPKpdEkC4vCLgSJqWE9bikhJe6rKrmAIWhQ%3D) **Note**: Delegate Printing in the User Portal is available only to users who sign in with OpenID Connect or SAML. Delegate management in Print Scout remains available to all users, regardless of authentication method. For more details, see [Manage delegates in User Portal](https://doc.pharos.com/cloud/C_Topics/Users/Using-DelegatePrint.htm?#ManagedelegatesintheUserPortal) ### Proximity Card Registration in the User Portal Users now register their proximity cards in the **User Portal**, as well as in Print Scout. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/f4fb58ca-1114-4e59-ba1a-d8f647bd6dcf/Images/Documentation/image(215).png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-08T16%3A49%3A03Z&se=2026-11-08T17%3A49%3A03Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=LSmqywduMPKpdEkC4vCLgSJqWE9bikhJe6rKrmAIWhQ%3D) **Note**: Proximity Card Registration in the User Portal is available only to users who sign in with OpenID Connect or SAML. Proximity card registration in Print Scout remains available to all users, regardless of authentication method. For more details, see [Register a proximity card in the User Portal](https://doc.pharos.com/cloud/C_Topics/Users/UserPortal-Register-Card.htm) ### Suppress Passcode expiration reminder in the User Portal Users can now turn off passcode expiration reminders in the **User Portal** using the **Suppress passcode expiration reminders** setting under **Notification Settings** on the **Passcode** page. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/f4fb58ca-1114-4e59-ba1a-d8f647bd6dcf/Images/Documentation/image(223).png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-08T16%3A49%3A03Z&se=2026-11-08T17%3A49%3A03Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=LSmqywduMPKpdEkC4vCLgSJqWE9bikhJe6rKrmAIWhQ%3D) For more details, see [Turn off passcode reminders in the User Portal](https://doc.pharos.com/cloud/C_Topics/Users/UserPortal-Passcode-Reminders.htm) ### New Device Inventory API Pharos Cloud now includes a **Device API** for integrating device inventory data with third-party systems such as asset management, ITSM, and CMDB tools. The API supports retrieving inventory data and bulk updating device information. To create OAuth 2.0 credentials, go to **Analysis > API**, select **Device API**, and configure the application. For more details, see [Device API](https://docs.beacon.pharos.com/api-docs/index.html?urls.primaryName=Device+API) ## Direct Print Enhancements ### Computer name-based queue deployment You can now deploy Direct Print queues by workstation computer name, as well as by user or group. Use it for shared workstations where the same queues need to be available whoever signs in. Print Scout reports the workstation's computer name, installs matching queues that are set to auto-install, and offers matching manual-install queues to users. - **Printer Properties > Permission Groups:** a new **Target** setting (User or Workstation), with computer name rules (Starts with, Ends with, Contains, Regular Expression or All). - **Printers and Print Queues grids:** new **Target** and **Computer Name Patterns** columns. - **Device Import:** supports the **Target** and **Computer Name Patterns** fields for bulk setup. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/f4fb58ca-1114-4e59-ba1a-d8f647bd6dcf/Images/Documentation/image(216).png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-08T16%3A49%3A03Z&se=2026-11-08T17%3A49%3A03Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=LSmqywduMPKpdEkC4vCLgSJqWE9bikhJe6rKrmAIWhQ%3D) Fore more details, see [Deploy Direct Print queues based on computer names](https://doc.pharos.com/cloud/C_Topics/Direct/SharedWorkstation/Deploy-Queues-Shared-Workstations.htm) ### Direct Print support in the Document Management API External applications can now send print-ready documents, such as PDFs, straight to a printer using the new Direct Print endpoint in the **Document Management API**. Target the printer by IPv4 or Printer Alias, and use the status endpoints to check whether the job was delivered. For more details, see [Send files with Direct Print](https://doc.pharos.com/cloud/C_Topics/Analysis/Document-Management-API.htm#DirectPrint) ### Printer aliases for Direct Print printers You can now give a Direct Print printer a friendly **Alias**, such as HOSP-FL03-ICU-NURSE-01, in the printer's properties. The alias stays the same if the printer's IP address changes, and applications can use it to target the printer through the Document Management API. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/f4fb58ca-1114-4e59-ba1a-d8f647bd6dcf/Images/Documentation/image(217).png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-08T16%3A49%3A03Z&se=2026-11-08T17%3A49%3A03Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=LSmqywduMPKpdEkC4vCLgSJqWE9bikhJe6rKrmAIWhQ%3D) ## Pharos Sentry Print Service Updates ### QR sign-in on Canon, Konica Minolta, and Toshiba devices QR sign-in, previously available only on HP devices, is now supported on Canon, Konica Minolta, and Toshiba devices. Users scan the QR code on the printer with the Pharos Secure Release mobile app to sign in without entering credentials. ### PDF OCR (Text Searchable) scan support Users scanning on HP printers with built-in OCR and firmware 5.8.1.x or later can now choose **PDF OCR (Text Searchable)** as the file type in the Secure Scan app. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/f4fb58ca-1114-4e59-ba1a-d8f647bd6dcf/Images/Documentation/image(218).png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-08T16%3A49%3A03Z&se=2026-11-08T17%3A49%3A03Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=LSmqywduMPKpdEkC4vCLgSJqWE9bikhJe6rKrmAIWhQ%3D) **Note:** Requires devices running firmware 5.8.1.x or later. On older firmware versions, the option is not shown, and the closest supported file type is used instead. ### Optional Sentry Print Service installation with Device Scout The Device Scout installer now has an **Install Sentry Print Components** checkbox, so organizations that don't use Secure Release can install Device Scout on its own. The checkbox is selected by default when the installer package includes Sentry Print. Existing installations aren't affected. ### Scan to Email: Configurable "From" address Administrators can now set a From Address in **Device Profiles > Scan To > SMTP Configuration**. When it's set, Scan to Email uses it as the sender instead of the SMTP Username. When it's blank, the SMTP Username is still used, as before ## Print Scout Updates ### Support for new Operating Systems Support has been added for the following operating system versions: - Windows 11 26H2 - macOS 27 - Ubuntu 26.04 ### Windows Print Scout 8.5 and Mac Print Scout 3.0 #### "Do not remind me again" for passcode expiry notifications Users can now select **Do not remind me again** in the passcode expiry notification in Pharos Print to stop further reminders for their current passcode. The setting follows the user's account rather than the workstation, and reminders start again when the user resets their passcode. Users can still reset their passcode at any time. Applies when a passcode expiration period is set. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/f4fb58ca-1114-4e59-ba1a-d8f647bd6dcf/Images/Documentation/image(220).png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-08T16%3A49%3A03Z&se=2026-11-08T17%3A49%3A03Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=LSmqywduMPKpdEkC4vCLgSJqWE9bikhJe6rKrmAIWhQ%3D) #### Customizable sign-in screen Administrators can now brand the sign-in screen (Pharos Print Setup Guide) that users see when they first open Pharos Print. Set your own background image, welcome message and sign-in button label in **Account Settings > Theme**. For more details, see [Customize the Pharos Print Desktop app login screen](https://doc.pharos.com/cloud/C_Topics/Administrators/PrintScout-Theme.htm) ### Windows Print Scout #### Shared Workstation Mode **Shared Workstation Mode** is a new option for workstations used by many people, such as in healthcare, manufacturing, libraries and computer labs. When it's enabled, users can print from deployed Direct Print queues without registering the workstation, signing in with SSO or creating a PIN. Pair it with computer name-based queue deployment (see Direct Print) so the right queues install automatically. For more details, see [How Shared Workstation Mode works](https://doc.pharos.com/cloud/C_Topics/Direct/SharedWorkstation/About-Shared-Workstation-Mode.htm) #### Computer name-based queue deployment support Print Scout now reports the workstation computer name so Direct Print queues can be installed by computer name. See *Computer name-based queue deployment* under Direct Print. For more details, see [Deploy Print queues based on computer names](https://doc.pharos.com/cloud/C_Topics/Direct/SharedWorkstation/Deploy-Queues-Shared-Workstations.htm) #### Print Scout Auto Updater (Preview) Administrators can now publish Print Scout updates through the API, from Pharos-hosted downloads or an internal network share. Print Scout checks for updates when it checks in, verifies the signature and installs the update silently. **Note:** This feature is available in **Preview mode**. Functionality and configuration may change before general availability. To request access, contact **customerpreview@pharos.com**. For more details, see [How the Print Scout Auto Updater Works](https://doc.pharos.com/cloud/C_Topics/Administrators/PrintScoutUpdater/How-PrintScout-Auto-Updater-Works.htm) ### Mac Print Scout #### Native Apple Silicon support Mac Print Scout now runs natively on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, without Rosetta 2. #### Enhanced key protection Mac Print Scout now stores its encryption keys in the macOS System Keychain, which protects them from being extracted offline. ## **Component Release Versions** This release includes the following software components and release versions. | **Software Component** | **Release Version** | **Build Date** | | --- | --- | --- | | Device Scout | 1.27.1.100 | October 2026 | | Print Scout (Windows) | 8.5.14.100 | October 2026 | | Print Scout (Mac) | 3.0.6.100 (Configuration app) 3.9.4 (Pharos Print app) | October 2026 | | Print Scout (Linux) | 2.2.0 (Not Updated) | May 2025 | | Secure Print Site Service – Local Connector | (2610.607.346tagged version) 26.10.9063.0 [](https://pharossystems.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/IT/pages/944701565)(MSI version) | October 2026 | | Secure Print Site Service – Cloud Connector | 2610.607.346 | October 2026 | | Device Discovery and Deployment Utility (DDU) | 2.2.5 | October 2026 | | Chrome extension | 4.8.0 | November 2024 | | Secure Release mobile app (Android)* | 3.2.0 | September 2026 | | Secure Release mobile app (iOS)* | 3.2.0 | September 2026 |
