Problem
When attempting to install the Pharos Print Scout, you receive the following error:
C:\install>PrintScoutInstaller.exe
***Starting the Print Scout package at [Tue, Jun 11, 2024 02:03:38 PM]***
Error: The specified command line is invalid. This package is not compatible with the existing installation.
Solution
The issue is related to leftover Print Scout files from a previous installation. To resolve this, follow the steps below:
Remove Existing Print Scout Files:
If there are any preexisting Print Scout files, try removing them using the ‘/uninstall /clean’ switches:
printscoutinstaller.exe /uninstall /clean
Registry Key Removal:
Check if the following registry key exists:
HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\PharosSystems
If it does, remove it. This step should allow the installation to proceed successfully.
Cleaner.exe:
Obtain a copy of C:\Program Files (x86)\PharosSystems\PrintScout\cleaner.exe from a working client.
Run cleaner.exe on the failed installation to remove any remnants from the previous unsuccessful install.
After these steps are completed, retry installation and it should be successful this time. If the issue persists, please reach out to Pharos Support and we'll be happy to help.
