# Printer Readiness Guides for Secure Release

## Introduction

Prior to securing a supported printer for either Keyboard or Card authentication, the target printer(s) must be pre-configured, or readied, for deployment. There are similarities between makes (security settings, for example), but some differences exist, too. The Readiness Guides below walk you through the steps needed prior to securing the printer.

In many cases, the printer's manufacturer provides utilities that can capture a reference configuration and then send that configuration out to other printers *en masse* for continuity in the fleet. Contact your printer supplier for fleet management options.
