Uniprint 9.2 CD Installer Update Rev 413

This update replaces three files in the setup folder of the Uniprint 9.2 installation media: Install.exe, Upgrade.exe and psinst32.dll, version 9.2.10000.413. It changes how the installer checks for .NET when Print Center Services (Pharos API) is selected.

Before You Start

  • This update should be applied to installations using Uniprint Suite 9.2.
  • It applies only when you install or upgrade a Uniprint 9.2 server from the installation media (Setup.exe). Servers that are already installed do not need it, and it is not delivered by the Updater Service.
  • You need a copy of the Uniprint 9.2 installation media that you can write to, for example a copy of the CD on a local disk or a network share.
  • The installer no longer requires .NET Core 3.1.3. It needs only that some version of the .NET Windows Server Hosting bundle is installed. The Pharos API components themselves currently run on .NET 8.0, so install the latest .NET 8.0 Windows Server Hosting bundle from Microsoft before you start; see the Uniprint hotfixes web page for the latest versions.
  • The Pharos IPP Service installer is not changed by this update and keeps its own requirement of .NET Core Windows Server Hosting 6.0.4 or later.

Installation

  1. Download 9.2.10000.413-CDInstallerUpdate.zip from the Pharos Hot Fixes web page.
  2. In the properties of the downloaded file, choose to unblock, and then unzip it. The zip file contains a setup folder with Install.exe, Upgrade.exe and psinst32.dll.
  3. Copy these three files into the setup folder of your copy of the Uniprint 9.2 installation media, replacing the existing files. Do not replace Setup.exe in the root of the media; it is unchanged.
  4. Run Setup.exe from the root of the media as usual.
  5. To confirm the update is in place: if you select Print Center Services (Pharos API) on a server that has no .NET Windows Server Hosting bundle installed, the installer shows the message "No .NET Core installed. See the Uniprint hotfixes web page for latest versions." With a hosting bundle installed, the installation continues.

Your existing configuration is preserved. Only the installer files on the installation media change; nothing on your Pharos servers is modified until you run the installer.

The application of this update constitutes acceptance of the conditions specified in your license agreement. To view the license agreement, please refer to the license.rtf file on your Pharos CD.

Details

This update addresses the following:

  • .NET Core 3.1.3 no longer enforced by the installer. When Print Center Services (Pharos API) was selected, the Uniprint 9.2 installer required .NET Core 3.1.3, which is out of support, and did not accept a later version. The installer now accepts any version of the .NET Windows Server Hosting bundle. If none is installed, it shows "No .NET Core installed. See the Uniprint hotfixes web page for latest versions." The same check applies when the Pharos IPP Service role is selected.
