Question:
Uniprint and Antivirus /Anti Malware recommendations?
Answer:
In general, an Anti-virus product does not need to have anything included or excluded. With Symantec Endpoint Protection, we had to whitelist some of our components with that company. Pharos products are now "signed" by Symantec. We've also had intermittent reports during the spring of issues with Windows 10's Windows Defender product. We've worked with Microsoft and now, if a customer has kept up with their virus definitions, then they should not have a problem.
If there is a firewall product involved, the ports may need to be opened for proper communication between the components, based on what's installed on the server and it's function. The installers do their best to open those ports during installation. With a 3rd party product, it's possible it doesn't appear as a firewall to the installer so it may be missed.
Though it isn't common, sometimes in the past a virus scanning tool will need to be disabled during installations if it's found to cause alarm. Other than what's above, the customer can turn on the AV software after installation.
