EDI Authentication Error – “The EDI could not Contact any Server for Authentication”

Prev Next

Problem

You are facing an issue where users are unable to authenticate when attempting to log in at Pharos devices and the following error is displayed:

“The EDI could not contact any server for authentication.”

In the Pharos Administrator console, the EDI Service Test shows warnings:

  • The web service is not signed by a Pharos certificate
  • The web service is not enforcing an SSL connection

Cause

The EDI Service is not configured with a valid Pharos-signed certificate, and SSL encryption is not being enforced. Without a trusted certificate and secure connection, clients cannot properly authenticate to the service. This is a known issue caused by improper SSL and certificate configuration on the EDI Service.

Solution

  1. Verify Pharos services are running
    Open services.msc.
Ensure all Pharos services (including EDI Service) are running.
  2. Check EDI Service configuration:
Confirm that the Web Service URL is accessible from both the server and client machines.
Verify that a valid certificate is installed and bound to the service.
  3. Configure SSL and certificates:
Install or renew a valid certificate for the EDI web service.
Ensure the certificate is trusted by client machines.
Enable the SSL Encryption Required option in the EDI configuration.
  4. Restart Pharos services after applying changes.

Additional Notes

If no signed certificate is installed and SSL is not enforced, authentication requests will fail.

A certificate issued by a trusted Certificate Authority (CA) or a valid Pharos certificate should be used.
