Microsoft Office 2010 Print Jobs Are Very Large

Environment
Microsoft Office 2010
Pharos Systems Blueprint Enterprise (all versions)
Pharos Systems Uniprint Suite (all versions)
Symptoms
Server's hard disk fills up
Excessively large print/spool files on server hard drive
Jobs take a long time to print
Can't release job to printer
Cause
The print spool function in Office 2010 is different from previous versions. Unpatched Office 2010 applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher) contain a bug where image files within the application are sent to Windows Spooler in pieces, which results in an excessively large print file that must be spooled.
Resolution
To resolve the problem, you may either:
Download (or use Windows Update) Service Pack 1 or better for Microsoft Office 2010
Download Microsoft KB 2345342 (http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/2345342)
There is no need to adjust any Pharos software operation.
