Article summary

How can I move my existing SignUp Server to a new machine?

It is highly recommended that you plan for the new SignUp Server to have the same hostname as the old one. Changing the name of the SignUp server may require changes to every affected SignUp client. On systems older than 8.0, you may also need to re-use the IP address for the new server.

To replace your server with a new one, follow these steps:

  1. Stop the Pharos SignUp Server service on your current SignUp Server.

  2. Either shut down the system, or change the hostname and IP address.

  3. Alter the replacement server so it has the old hostname and IP address.

  4. Install the SignUp Server role from the Pharos product CD.

Once complete, the new SignUp Server should resume operation, and your clients should be able to login or create reservations immediately.
