Problem:
Printing Is Slow using the Uniprint Popup on a Mac with a Canon Fiery Driver
Client Symptoms:
Create a new Pharos Queue. The added printer type is "Pharos Print Server" and the printer is a Canon C5000 series with a Fiery. The driver is Canon iR-ADV c5000s GX300 v1.0. A custom Pharos Mac package is not used. File > Print > the Mac dialog box appears. If this particular printer is selected, there is a delay of approximately 30 seconds before the Mac dialog box updates. This issue does not occur when other printers are selected using different drivers. When printing a test page directly from the queue there is no delay. Using Google Chrome's print dialog, there is no delay when selecting this printer. This behavior exists on multiple Mac OSX platforms. Multiple versions of the printer driver are tested with the same results. Reproduced on the most recent Pharos Popup for Mac (9.0.6) running on Mac OSX 10.11 (El Capitan) with Uniprint 9.0 R2 and Service Pack 3.
Cause:
Much like other drivers that call SNMP checks within the driver, this driver calls some other Fiery application that is inherent/installed on the workstation. This application slows down the printing process. Printing does commence, but at a cost of a 30-45 second delay. It's referred in the bottom of the driver in question in the following section:

Resolution/Workaround:
Comment out the following line in the above section of the .ppd/driver file:
*APDialogExtension: "/Library/Printers/Canon/PS3/PDEs/EF359217/EF359217 (FF).plugin"
The line should look like this after being commented out (adding *% at the front of the line):
*%*APDialogExtension: "/Library/Printers/Canon/PS3/PDEs/EF359217/EF359217 (FF).plugin"
Note: the user experience/interface may look slightly different, but all driver functions and features should still be present in the features drop-down list.
