How do I configure my Pharos Spool Queues so that jobs sitting on one Pharos print server can be released to Pharos Print Queues on another Pharos print server?
For a print job to be released by a Pharos Station that is on a different print server than where the print job was submitted, the Pharos Spool Queues and Pharos Station must be configured as follows:
Each Pharos Spool Queue that you wish to pool must be configured with the same or a compatible print driver.
Within Pharos Administrator configure each Pharos Spool Queue you wish to pool as "compatible" with all other Pharos Spool Queues you want in the same pool. This setting is found under Pharos Administrator > Output Management > Spool Queues > [Spool Queue] > General tab > Compatibly Queues.
Pharos Print Queues that are part of the printing pool need to have the same Valid Attributes. If this setting differs between printers, jobs that may be released at one printer may be rejected at another.
Each Pharos Station or Network Terminal you wish to be able to release jobs from multiple Pharos Print Servers must be configured to display only print jobs of the logged on user.
For Pharos Stations this setting is Pharos Administrator > Release Stations > Pharos Stations > [Pharos Station] > Print Job Organization tab > Print Jobs Shown > Jobs whose owner = user's logon ID.
For Network Terminals this setting is Pharos Administrator > Release Stations > Network Terminals > [Network Terminal] > Session tab > Show All Print Jobs > No.
There must be communication between the Pharos Print Servers that you wish to share jobs across. The Print Server port must be open on each server ( default port: 2353. )
Once this is configured and a Change Control is issued, you will be able to release print jobs from multiple Pharos Print Servers from a single Pharos Station and printer.
