Problem:
When open Uniprint Pharos administrator, I get "MMC Cannot initilize the snap-in" message and it crashes then closes.
Resolution:
As there are a number of reasons a span-in may fail to initialize below are a few methods to try to resolve the isssue.
Method # 1: Make sure the Target field goes to the right path
Check the shortcut being used to run Administrator – eg from the task bar or desktop or wherever it is run from
Right-click the shortcut - this shows ‘Pharos Administrator’, if you then right-click the next Pharos Administrator that is brought up, it will give you a ‘properties’ option.
Open Properties and select the contents of the ‘target’ field in the shortcut tab – copy from the target field and paste into notepad. It should look like this:
“C:\<pharos install>\bin\AdminLauncher.exe” C:\Windows\system32\mmc.exe -32 AdminConsole.msc
Method # 2: Run installutil.exe command
Open command prompt with elevated rights
Browse to <installed drive>:\Program Files *x86)\Pharos\Bin
Run below command
c:\Windows\Microsoft.net\framework\v4.0.30319\installutil.exe pharossystems.administrator.dll
Method # 3: Uninstall Pharos administrator, delete Newtonsoft.json.dll file, and reinstall Pharos administrator
Go to Start menu > All Programs > Pharos > Uninstall Pharos and uninstall Pharos administrator
Browse to <installed drive>:\Program Files *x86)\Pharos\Bin
Delete Newtonsoft.json.dll file
Reinstall Pharos administrator
