Before You Start

This hot-fix should be applied to installations using Uniprint Suite 9.2.

Installation

The update affects the Database Server and should be applied to the Principal Server machine running the Pharos Database Service.

The Database Service is offered as an update via the Updater Service in Pharos Administrator

For Servers with Internet access:

  1. Open the Pharos Administrator application and access the Updater Service context under System.

  2. Click to Download and Install the update for Database Service version 9.2.10000.382

  3. This will trigger restart of any print services present on the same machine, and a change control to be processed by Uniprint services on other servers

For Servers without access to the Internet, the update can be applied as follows:

To apply the update on servers which do not have access to the Internet:

  1. Download the 9.2.10000.382-DBServiceUpdate.zip file from the Pharos Hot Fixes web page.

  2. In the properties of the zip file, choose to unblock and then unzip the file.

  3. The zip file contains two files. Both files are required for the Database Service update to be available:

    • Uniprint.Database.Schema.9.2.10000.194.nupkg

    • Uniprint.Database.Service.9.2.10000.382.nupkg

      Note that no SQL database changes will be made by this update; the schema package is a reference file only

  4. Copy the unzipped contents (both .nupkg files) and paste into the following location on the Principal Server (the server hosting the Pharos Database Service):

    \ProgramDataPharosSystems\UpdaterService\cache-v2.0\

  5. Open the Pharos Administrator application and access the Updater Service context under System.

  6. The Database Service update should now be listed as an update for the Principal Server machine.

  7. Click to Download, and then Install the package.

  8. Running the Database Service update will trigger a restart of any Uniprint print services present on the same machine, and a change control to be processed by Uniprint services on other servers.

The application of this update constitutes acceptance of the conditions specified in your license agreement. To view the license agreement, please refer to the license.rtf file on your Pharos CD.

Details

This update addresses the following issues:

  • Performance Improvement. This update increases the packet size for data transfer between the Database Service and other services. A more notable performance improvement with this update is in listing Devices and Release Stations in the Pharos Administrator, particularly in the case where large numbers of EDI Terminals are recorded in the Pharos database. Other performance improvements in areas such as Sentry Print logon may also be noticeable.
