Article summary

This update addresses known issues with Uniprint 9.2 Popup Client packages and should be applied to all machines running the Uniprint Administrator application.

Installation

To apply the update:

  1. On each Pharos Administrator machine, copy the following file to the Pharos\Bin\PackageCreator\StaticModules\ install directory, overwriting the existing file:

    • Controller.exe

  2. The Pharos Administrator does not need to be restarted for the change to take effect.

  3. After applying the hot fix, from a Pharos Administrator machine on which the update has been applied, re-build any Popup Packages that previously failed to upgrade driver files during install. Use the newly built Popup Packages to install Popups and upgrade driver files on workstations.

  4. After the hot fix has been applied the version number of Controller.exe will be 9.2.10000.315.

The application of this update constitutes acceptance of the conditions specified in your license agreement. To view the license agreement, please refer to the license.rtf file on your Pharos CD.

Details

This update addresses the following issues:

  • During install or upgrade of Popup Package where printer driver files are being updated and a version number of x.9 should be replaced by a file version x.10, this may fail due to an 'older version' check done by the Popup controller during install. This can result in the driver being only partially upgraded and not working. This hot fix improves the file version check capability to avoid this issue.

Note: on a machine where the update using the older Controller.exe previously failed as described above, running the 'fixed' package on the affected machine will not update the files to the new version as it believes the new driver version is already installed. This can be resolved by uninstalling and reinstalling Popups, or you may manually edit the registry to trigger the Popup package to install the driver again. This can be edited here: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Pharos\Installed Modules\drv_Canon Generic Plus PCL6_for_x64.exe (Or whichever module is for the driver with the problem). Set the Checksum value recorded in this registry key to be a lower value, eg reduce it by 1, then re-run the package.
