Article summary

A Canon iMFP has been installed with the Pharos software and has been put into demo mode. The iMFP has a fixed or unknown IP address, but the user does not know the IP address.  You must reach the webpage of the iMFP in order to turn demo mode on and off.

To work around this problem, it is possible to force the iMFP to boot with a fixed (known) IP address.  Once the machine has booted up with a known IP address, it is then possible to change your existing network to allow for it, or to connect with a crossover cable to make any necessary changes (including changing the IP address to something that will work on your network).  To accomplish this, follow these steps:

  1. Power off the iMFP.

  2. Hold down the 1 and 7 Keys on the panel while powering up the iMFP from the main power switch.

  3. Wait for the "FIXIP" to show up at the top of the LCD, then you can let go of the 1 and 7 keys.

  4. When the iMFP finishes booting up, you will have 172.16.1.100 as the fixed IP address on the iMFP
