Problem:

When swiping a user's card at a Ricoh iMFP using a Magtek reader configured for HID mode, there is no response. 


Solution:

In the Pharos iMFP for Ricoh Installation and Configuration Guide, the following note is present.

Note that on so-called 12.x models, in order for the MFP to recognize card readers other than those listed above, the card reader's USB Vendor ID and Product ID must be configured in a USB setup menu on the MFP. Consult the MFPs documentation for instructions or your local Ricoh Technician on how to do this.

  1. Check the USB Vendor and Product ID's at the device level. One must be physically at the device logged in as administrator. (Example RicohUSBProdID.JPG screen shot attached below)

  2. If the ID's are not known, a tool such as USBView can be of great help. (Example USBView.jpg screen shot attached below)

Your Magtek card reader may have different product ID and here is how you can find out:
