Touchless Printing via Proximity Cards
In addition to our existing touchless printing workflows, Sentry Print now supports touchless printing with proximity card authentication. IT managers can enable Touchless Printing via a simple toggle in the administrative screen. Users can then simply tap their proximity card at a preferred printer, and all documents in their personal queue will begin printing after 5 seconds. There's no need to touch the printer interface to print documents. Users can cancel printing before the 5-second timer elapses simply by pressing Cancel.
The system supports touchless printing with proximity cards no matter which authentication method or provider the customer is configured for (email authentication, Active Directory, and OpenID).
Passcode Authentication
Typically, print users identify themselves at printers by tapping their proximity cards or by entering their email address and PIN. Sentry Print now offers passcode authentication as an alternative way to authenticate at a printer. If an employee ID card is lost, damaged, or unavailable, the employee can use a passcode to authenticate at a printer to release documents.
When a user registers their OpenID Connect credentials in the Print Scout Setup Guide, the employee is assigned a system-generated passcode based on the configured complexity chosen by the IT administrator. This passcode will also be sent to the employee via email in case it's forgotten.
A new Passcode Settings section has been added to the Secure > Settings screen.
Enable Passcode Only Release – This toggles passcode authentication on or off. By default, passcode authentication is OFF.
Character complexity - Choose whether to use Numeric or Alphanumeric passcodes. By default, passcodes are numeric only.
Passcode lengthy - Set the desired length of passcodes, between 6 and 10 characters. By default, passcodes are 6 characters.
New Integration APIs
Two new APIs are available to help you integrate Sentry Print into your print environment. You can find these APIs on the Secure > Advanced screen.
The Card Import API allows IT administrators to programmatically import a batch of card IDs and associate them to users via a CSV file.
The User Removal API allows IT administrators to programmatically remove a batch of registered users via a CSV file.
