The Secure > Sentry Print section contains site-wide settings for Touchless Printing (via prox card) and Proximity Card Registration.
UI Mode
Select the device logon experience for the user at the Sentry Print. There are three options:
Setting | Description |
---|---|
Standard Interface | When selected, the employee sees the Secure Print screen on authentication. |
Touchless Printing | Touchless Printing makes it easy for site administrators to provide touchless printing workflows for employees who prefer not to touch printer control panels, to reduce their exposure to shared surfaces. Use this setting to enable Touchless Printing (via prox card). When selected, users can simply tap their proximity card at their preferred printer, and all documents in their queue will begin printing after a configurable Release Delay timeout (default is 5 seconds). There is no need to touch the printer interface to print documents. Users can cancel printing before the timer elapses simply by pressing Cancel. Release Delay (Seconds) – The time (in seconds) before a user’s documents are released from a printer. Documents in the user’s queue will begin printing after 5 seconds (default value). This delay gives users a chance to cancel printing if desired. An employee can cancel printing before the 5-second timer elapses by simply pressing Cancel. Mobile Release using the Pharos Print App is also available. Refer to the Touchless Printing for Mobile Devices for more information. |
Authenticate to Device Home Screen | If enabled, when a user logs onto Sentry print, instead of opening the Pharos app, the Sentry Print device will show its Home Screen. From the Home Screen, the user has access to such functions as copy or scan. This device setting is ignored by Sentry Print devices that don't support this feature. |
Proximity Card Registration
The Enable Proximity Card Registration setting is turned off by default. When turned on, unregistered users can register their proximity cards by entering their network ID and password at Sentry Print enabled printers. Once a proximity card is registered, users can release documents to any Sentry Print enabled device in the organization using Touchless Printing.
If you wish to have a complete touchless user experience, you may consider importing users’ card IDs into Blueprint using Blueprint’s File Importer.
Require Authentication for All Device Functions
The Require Authentication for All Device Functions in the Secure > Sentry Print tab of Print Center allows you to control the authentication requirements for various device functions. For example, if print is not your primary workflow, you may choose to disable this setting.
When the setting is turned ON, users will be required to authenticate for all device functions, including print, copy, fax, and scan.
When the setting is turned OFF, authentication will only be necessary for the Secure Print application, allowing users to access other device functions (e.g. copy fax, scan) without authentication.
Notes:
The "Require Authentication for All Device Functions" setting is applicable for HP devices exclusively.
To implement the setting, it is necessary to re-secure all the devices in your print environment.
By default, this setting is turned OFF.
