Overview

This article describes the Pharos Sentry Print Service patch 3.74.10 for Blueprint Enterprise 5.3.

The patch updates Log4j from version 1.2.17 to version 2.17.1 and updates the Ricoh Remote Installation for SOP utilities from version 1.1 to version 1.2.

This is a historical Blueprint 5.3 patch. For newer Blueprint versions, use the patch listed for the installed Blueprint release. Do not apply the Blueprint 6.1 patch to earlier Blueprint versions.

Applies to

  • Blueprint Enterprise 5.3 servers with the Pharos Sentry Print Service installed.

  • Blueprint deployments using supported Sentry Print devices, including Ricoh devices.

Before you start

  1. Confirm that the server is running Blueprint Enterprise 5.3.

  2. Confirm that the patch is intended for the installed Blueprint version.

  3. Record the current Sentry Print Service version.

  4. Back up relevant configuration files according to your organization’s change-management procedure.

  5. If Ricoh devices are deployed, do not manually replace or remove Log4j files unless Technical Support has provided product-specific guidance. Current Log4j files may be required during Ricoh device securing and unsecuring.

Steps

  1. Download the Blueprint 5.3 Sentry Print Services Patch 3.74.10 from the [Blueprint Enterprise Downloads](https://kb.pharos.com/docs/en/blueprint-enterprise-downloads) page. The patch is listed as a February 2022 Blueprint 5.3 release.

  2. Open an elevated Command Prompt.

  3. Run the following command, replacing PathToMsi with the full path to the downloaded file:

msiexec /i "PathToMsi"

```

  1. Follow the installer prompts.

  2. You do not need to uninstall the existing Sentry Print Service before applying the patch.

  3. You do not need to stop an existing Sentry Print Service process before applying the patch.

  4. You do not need to unsecure previously secured devices solely because this patch was installed.

Validation

  1. Confirm that the installation completes without errors.

  2. Confirm that the Sentry Print Service is running.

  3. Confirm that existing secured devices remain available.

  4. Test securing or unsecuring a representative device when appropriate for the environment.

  5. Confirm that the installed component reports version 3.74.10.

Notes

  • The current Blueprint 6.1 Sentry Print Service patch is version 2607.1001.5425 with MSI version 26.7.14514.0. It is intended for Blueprint 6.1 or later, not Blueprint 5.3.

  • Current release documentation includes Ricoh enhancements and requires re-securing existing Ricoh devices for certain changes to take effect.

  • Log4j remediation guidance is product and device dependent. If Ricoh devices are used, retain required files and follow Technical Support guidance. If no Ricoh devices are used, the Log4j file can be removed.

  • Do not treat this historical patch as the current security remediation for Blueprint or Sentry Print Service.
