Omega Screen stuck in calibration mode

For Background:
The calibration mode is turned on by touching the screen during power up.
If the Omega always goes into calibration mode during power up then the most likely reason is that the screen is being touched by the plastic fascia. If this is happening then trying to calibrate is a waste of time because the screen is always being touched somewhere. There would be calibration boxes dancing all over the screen.
So the problem is most likely mechanical. Here is a quote from the manufacturing process designed to deal with this problem
"SmartPAD touch screen problems
Pharos and Pharos’ customers are continuing to have intermittent problems with the touch panel triggering falsely. This may be due to the plastic fascia sides pressing on the touch panel. Please introduce the following test and solution:
Test
Run a sheet of paper down the sides of the display area. Make sure it slides freely in between the touch panel and the plastic fascia. This guarantees 0.1mm of space around the complete display.
Solution
If the paper test fails at a plastic nobble, remove the LCD panel and trim the nobble.
If the paper test fails along the flat edge of the fascia, distance the display slightly from the fascia. This may be done most easily by removing the display from the fascia and inserting a small, paper, sticky label between the fascia and the display. The sticky label goes right on top of the fascia’s screw bosses. When you screw on the display, the screw will easily puncture the sticky label."
To implement the above, the customer will need to dismantle the SmartPAD and unscrew the chassis and LCD panel. This will incur some warranty risk for someone (Pharos or the Customer).
