Pharos HP Integrated MFP 2.1.2 Release

This document contains the release notes for this release of the Pharos HP Integrated MFP software. This release is compatible with version 7.2 and later of the Pharos Solution Suite and version 3.5 and later of Pharos Blueprint Enterprise. This release supports the following device models:

HP Color LaserJet CM4730 series
HP LaserJet M3025 series
HP LaserJet M3035 series
HP LaserJet M4345 series
HP LaserJet M5025 series
HP LaserJet M5035 series

Note: Older device models are supported by the 1.2.xx releases of the Pharos HP Integrated MFP solution.

What's New in This Release

Support for Blueprint Enterprise

HP iMFPs can be used as terminals in the Secure Release Hereā„¢ system introduced in Pharos Blueprint Enterprise 3.5. HP iMFP devices can be added in Blueprint Administrator, and appear on the Terminals screen in the Device Management section.

Known Issues

Cost Centers not supported

This release does not support charging costs to a Cost Center; costs can only be charged to users' internal accounts. This functionality will be added in a later release.

Incorrect messages when EDI Server is offline

If the Pharos EDI Server goes offline in the middle of a user's session, the interface behaves incorrectly, showing "Invalid access level" errors on the Printing screen.

Password errors when printing multiple jobs

When a user submits multiple password-protected jobs, but chooses to release only some of them, the first job is released correctly, but an error stating that an incorrect password has been supplied will be raised for subsequent jobs. Entering the same password once more or logging out and logging back in will work around this situation.

Install Notes

Required HP firmware version

The Pharos HP iMFP Application requires HP iMFPs to be running a firmware version of 50.011.6 or later.

Apply configuration schema to Uniprint/Blueprint

If you are integrating with Pharos Uniprint, run the ini_schemashpIMFP.sql script supplied in the Database directory of this firmware release against the Pharos Database before upgrading firmware. Running this script ensures that any changes featured in this firmware release will be available in Pharos Administrator. If you are using SQL Server, run this script against the 'pharos' database using SQL Query Analyzer. If your site uses MSDE, run the script by entering the following from a command prompt, where [password] is your SQL administrator password:

osql -U sa -P [password] -d pharos -i ini_schemashpIMFP.sql

If you are integrating with Pharos Blueprint Enterprise, you must update the HP iMFP configuration file with the details of the HP iMFP configuration schema. Copy the contents of the file ini_schemashpIMFP.xml (included in the firmware package) into the file HP iMFP.terminal.config, available in the Blueprint\bin directory of the Analyst server.

It is always a good idea to back up the Database before applying changes.

Insert a Printer and a Network Terminal

Pharos contains records for the printers and copiers that it manages, and for the terminals that control them. Since the HP MFP is both an output device and a terminal, records for it must be created at two places in Pharos Administrator:

A Network Terminal record must be created for the MFP at Pharos Stations > Network Terminals.
An MFD record must be created at Printing > Print Services > [selected Print Service] > Printers or Output Devices > Pharos Managed Copiers.
Ensure that the MFD is listed under the Related Printers property for the Network Terminal - if this association is not made, users will receive an error when attempting to release print jobs.
