When attempting to install iMFP Integration to an HP 9050 the install fails but appears to succeed.
Possible scenarios:
When attempting to do the integration upload/installation onto the device, it says it completes, however the installation takes less then 30 seconds, which sounds too short for successful completion.
When the device reboots it does not have 'Secure Release' and 'Logon' icons, only three icons appear: Copy, Email and Fax.
If we go to the website's web page under the Loader it has: HP Laser Security Agent, Chai Watch Port, HP Laser Security Services, Chai GUI, Scan Control, File System; it does not load any of the Pharos packages and it does not give any error messages.
When attempting to manually load the Pharos.Login it also fails with mention of Chai, ssl, etc.
** Prior to installing the latest Pharos HP iMFP Solution, the iMFP must be running the most recent HP firmware found on the HP website.
The first thing to do is attempt a Disk Init on the HP Engine.
An attempt to do a Disk Init should be done first to see if this alleviates the issue.
Insure you are using the 1.x version of the Pharos Software for the device.
Failing this:
Try an NVRam Init and see if this works. If not, contact Pharos Support.
*We have seen some Vista boxes that do not have LPR enabled on them (which we use in the installer). If you open a dos window on the computer and just type “lpr” it should show you the command usage information. If it responds with “not recognized” then lpr is disabled on the box. There are articles on Microsoft's web site which describe how to turn this on.
*Even better is an NVRam init. We have seen some engines that required an NVRam init before being able to receive the software. The root cause of this is not yet known but we’re working with our HP on understanding this. An HP technician should be knowledgeable on how to perform these steps. If not contact Pharos Support but as these procedures are HP internal configuration items any additional information on these steps should come from HP.
Additionally check the following:
From the web browser go to the IP address of the device and log in (button in the upper right hand corner).
a) Select the Settings tab.
b) Select Security.
c) Scroll down to Status of Security Settings.
d) Verify that Service Loading is Enabled.
If it is Disabled then scroll back up and press the Configure Security button and enable it. If it is disabled then none of our packages will be loaded and you may see an error message "loader failed" will occur.
