Article summary

Symptoms:

When printing a PowerPoint slide deck through the Pharos Print Center and trying to release it at the printer, the print device is asking me to load Executive size paper.

Problem:

By default, PowerPoint is configured to set the Page Size of slides to 4:3 screen ratio which is Executive size (540x720) and this Page Size is carried over to when you try to print the slides.

Answer:

The change to the page size has to be done in PowerPoint to convert the slides to a Letter Paper size, if this does not work it is not something we can control because the application is setting this value for the Page Size. As an alternative you can add a Job Cost for Executive size and the document will have a cost. This may be easier than having people creating Power Point slides and doing the Page Size change to the slide deck itself. http://thenewpaperclip.com/2014/08/24/letter-sized-presentation-change-the-size-of-your-powerpoint-slides/#

Note: Having MS Office installed on the server with the Mobile Print Worker service will not help in this case, this is because it is the application not setting the correct page size. When you change the slide size there are two option, "ensure fit" and "maximize fit", one needs to chose "maximize fit" and the slide will Letter size and thus upload as a Letter sized document.

Note: Some print devices allow you to set a "scale to option" so that all jobs get scaled to a particular page (paper) size, please contact your printer vendor to see if this is an option on your print devices, Pharos Support does not not keep track of the features of all the various devices.
