Article summary

When running Pharos Reports on Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 there is no button to change the Printer Device.

On Windows XP I am able to click the "Printer" button and then choose the default printer for Reports to use.

How can I change this on the above mentioned OS Platforms?

  1. Technically this dialog ability in programming has changed in Vista to exclude the Printer button. Some technical information can be found here:   http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms646937(VS.85).aspx . The important part to note is "Remarks - Windows Vista: To switch printer selection, use PrintDlg or PrintDlgEx. The PageSetupDlg for Windows Vista does not contain the Printer button."

  2. The button toolbar where the print and page setup buttons are shown are actually provided by Crystal Reports components, so we can't change this code to use PrintDlg/Ex on Vista and up.

This is a limitation of Microsoft & Crystal Reports at this time.
